Roo Trophy 2025 - Handicap Singles & Doubles

The Singles event will be run in a knock-out format, with repechage. The Doubles event will be in a graded round-robin format, followed by knock-out. (Note: Singles format may change depending on entry numbers.)
Playing sessions will include morning, daytime and evening. Those who are working at this time of the year are encouraged to play and indicate their time preference in the section below or advise the tournament organisers (see below) of availability restrictions. We will try to do our best to accommodate preferences. Players who enter the Doubles without a partner will be paired, if possible, with a player of similar ability.
The Roo Trophy dinner will be held at the Club on Friday evening 24 January.

International Tennis Day - a day to celebrate real tennis / court tennis / jeu de paume

Since 2014, International Tennis Day has been the annual celebration in our game of tennis — real tennis, court tennis, jeu de paume.
So book some court time, snag a playing buddy, and after your game post a photo on social media using the hashtag #ITENNISDAY (on Instagram, Facebook...). Clubs will be participating across Australia, France, UK and USA.
June 20 was chosen as it falls on the anniversary of the Tennis Court Oath, on 20 June 1789 by nearly 600 people at a tennis court near the Palace of Versailles and a pivotal event at the start of the French Revolution.

British Open Singles and Doubles Championships
The Queen’s Club | Sun, 16th Nov | 10:00 am
The Sir John Ritblat British Open Singles and Doubles Championship. The Singles Championship is restricted to 24 players. The top 20 players will qualify by right. Seeding and qualification will be determined firstly by the top 15 players on the IRTPA world ranking list. The Doubles Championship is restricted to 12 pairs. Seeding and qualification for the top 8 pairs will be determined by the IRTPA world doubles rankings list on the closing date of entry. Draw and streaming to be advised.

The best amateurs in the Club will be heading down to Hobart to compete in the Tas Amateur Singles and Doubles. Give them plenty of support in their preparation.

Come along and join the usual crew for final Last of the Month of 2025. As usual it will be a fun night with happy hour price drinks and delicious food provided by the social sub-committee. Be sure to sign-up early for catering purposes.
We have an absolute treat for everyone, both the John Poolman Trophy and Annie & John Link Trophy finals will be held on this evening.

A huge day of tennis with matches kicking off at 9:30am and running right through the day. We will have the Club Christmas Party running at the same time with lunch. Please RSVP as soon as possible so we can appropriately cater for everybody. The tennis schedule is to be confirmed.

World Amateur Masters 2026 Australia Dates and Details
Royal Melbourne Tennis Club | Sat, 28th Mar | 12:00 am
The World Amateur Masters Championships - the International Team Events and the Individual Championships - will be held in Australia during Sat. 28 March to Sat. 11 April 2026. The International Team Events will be played at Ballarat, Hobart and Sydney.
The Individual Championships will be played in Melbourne - Fri. 3 to Sat. 11 April 2026. Details available here.
