Day 2 Results from the Link Pumps Australian Open in Melbourne.

Fourth seed Ben Matthews defeated veteran Colin Lumley in a bloodless victory 6/0 6/0 6/0. Peter Estcourt then beat CJ White in a tense five setter which kept the crowd entertained, 4/6 6/2 6/2 3/6 6/2.

Match of the day was a thrilling four setter between the old bull and the young bull, Jonathan Howell vs James Gould. Jonners was struggling after a lengthy match earlier in the week while James kept the pace up. It all came down to a thrilling 15 minute game at 5-all in the 4th set: James had seven match points, Jonners four set points. Ultimately, the young bull triumphed 6/4 2/6 6/3 6/5 in a match which kept the crowd on the edge of their seats and completely enthralled.

The final match of the day saw world champion Robert Fahey beat Daniel Williams in straight sets 6/2 6/1 6/2. Daniel played very well but the champ was much too good and even treated us to a left handed volley defence of the dedans at one stage!
